Weatherproofing oven, sealing cracks

Hello all, what are the solutions to weather proof and seal some cracks in the outer casing for my Portuguese beehive style clay oven ? Is lime plastering the best way to proceed? I can send pictures a to show the extent of the cracks. I've. Is outside under a cover abs tarp. Thanks!
