If you are looking for fire bricks and refractory mortar in the Durham, NC area, I found light duty fire brick at Adams on LaSalle St in Durham. They also carry Heat Stop 50 in a 50 pound bag. The bricks were running $1.35 each and the 50 pound bag of Heat Stop was $80.38 (the price seemed to fluctuate with the sales person depending on which discount he gave).
