    I think you can stay with the round footprint up to a pretty large oven. At some point you might want to go oval to get more oven space without getting too wide, but the 42" Pompeii oven and the 43" (110cm) Forno Bravo refractory ovens are round and give you a lot of space for home cooking without begin too wide.

    Larger than that, you start to see a mix. Some larger ovens are ovals and some just get bigger and bigger as round ovens. Our biggest oven is a 73" round for pizzerias -- you could lie down inside it.
