Hi guys,
I'm running out of confidence with my build.
I have made a c shape out of bricks, used sleepers at 100 deep and 200 wide for the plinth. Then covered that in foil twice. On top of that I've put kiln dried sand, and then fire bricks from night storage heaters.
My worries is that I've heard sand is not a good insulator, with the sleepers catch a light? Most people seem to make there plinth from concrete, but I thought that cracks under heat.
So will sand be OK for insulation?
will storage heater bricks be OK as fire bricks, as in eating from.
Am I the only one using wood for the plinth?
Cheers guys
