I went to my masonry supply this morning to pick up another bag of Heat Stop and a few more firebricks, when he showed me a design from a brochure for a vent and chimney. It was from another company that makes precast ovens (not nearly as nice looking as FB's products btw), but what caught my eye was that the vent chamber/opening was essentially half a large flue liner set on it's side (so it like an arch) with a hole cut into the top to accomodate a chimney flue.
I think I am going to stick to my original desin of a bricked vent chamber, but this did look interesting. Has anyone here done this type of opening?
