FB infrared thermometer

I was wondering how the thermometer FB offers on their site works in use and if it's worth ponying up $100 for it. There is a large variation in quality/price with these instruments and was curious how this unit stacks up against other cheaper models. Any idea who makes this thermometer?

slackr, the infrared sold at Forno Bravo is definitely expensive, and in our experience it's not required. I'm pretty sure there's a 17$ thermometer there and it's the one I use personally.
