  • San Marzanos from the Garden

    Hey,

Anyone plant San Marzano tomatoes and have trouble with the tops (meaning the stem end) not ripening? My tomatoes have turned red on the blossom end but the tops are still dark green. I just about have to throw 30% of each tomato on the compost pile before I run them through the Squeezo processor.

    Comments?

Now you come to mention it I've noticed the same... but I just put the green bits in with the rest.
Tomatoes will continue ripening after you've picked them, so if you just leave them on the countertop for a couple of days, maybe the green bits will get a bit redder?

I'm getting more postive results from my tomato plants now.

The early ones had a hard time getting fully red - I'm now getting some really nice red ones. I just wish they were bigger!!!
