  • Moving the Pizza From the Counter

    I was looking at the newsletter today and I was wondering how you get the pizza off a counter like this? I tried my pizza in the oven last week and realized I need some tools from Forno Bravo. My peel was not long enough and I lacked something other than a steel 2x4 to rake the coals.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

    That's it!

    Ryan, you put your finger right on it. If you have:

    1. A smooth stone surface (granite or marble) with lots of flour on it, and;
    2. A thin metal pizza peel (like the ones FB sells -- the perforated one is great),

    You can shoot your pizza peel under the prepared pizza without messing it up and easily slide it into the oven. I taught our neighbors' 12-year son how to do it on Sunday -- and by the end he was doing it like a pro.

    You hold up the front edge of the prepared pizza just a little, and hold it, while you shoot the pizza peel under it.

    Make sense?

        Nice tip James. The "hold the front edge up" is not obvious. Kind of a slight-of-hand magician's trick. You don't know what to watch. I'll try that!

          Hi Ken,

          We sent the newsletter to the Forum member list today -- so if you didn't get a copy, let me know. I will send it to you (and double check the list).

          Let me know what you think.

            Thanks James. I will give this a try. I need to get a new peel for sure!

              Got it James. Thanks (I like it, too!)

              Back on topic... I can't wait to try the pizza on the counter thing. If it works well, I'll have to rethink my outdoor counter space plan.

                James, don't you owe us a viedo on pizza pulling?
