Yes but at the end of the day, where does all this beer and pizza toppings end up????$1200 buys a lot of beer and pizza toppings...
At least I still have a mixer to make my life easier and will have it for life.
All you will have are memories of maybe a hang over and guts ache!

If you have a mixer - it will definitely come in handy for that.... it'll at least stop your hands from going numb with cold!!!Originally posted by Himzo View Postwell I'm hopeing to do a small good making course next year at the local TAFE

Rossco, it's simplicity itself, you basically throw everything into a container and leave it on the bench overnight...

Interesting!!Originally posted by Mitchamus View PostTo turn this around....you don't need a mixer IMO... and use the no knead method...
The industrial mixer has shot off the scale of my "willing to pay" meter so no knead sounds like a really good alternative.
Do you have more details on this method?

Re: Kitchen Aid - 1 kg flour
True, but I already brew my own beer which saves me heaps and as for toppings, well I'm hopeing to do a small good making course next year at the local TAFE, so will hopefully be making my own there as well.Originally posted by Mitchamus View Post

The main reason for wanting the mixer at the moment, for me, is that my other half likes to make home made pasta and the Kitchen Aid mixer doesn't have the capacity she wants.
When I get around to building my oven(s) then it will be more usefull for pizzas, breads and such.

To turn this around....you don't need a mixer IMO...
Just a large food safe plastic container of about 40L, and use the no knead method. This makes sensational, soft, great tasting dough.
a 40L container will do 10kg at a time, and most people have one already in the form of an Esky
(Esky = "Cooler" in the USA)

Re: Kitchen Aid - 1 kg flour
Himzo,
I've been looking for some time and haven't found anything suitable or within my budget, but keep looking. One day I'll find something.
Ebay has the occasional mixer but usually 20 to 50 litre capacity and as Neill says they are far too big for my purpose.

Thanks Neil,Originally posted by nissanneill View PostHimzo,
when I was looking for mine, I found a good but well used unit, single phase 3 speed but old at machinery warehouse. I got them to agree to a cash sale price of $350 but for one day but I bought the new one in preference. It needed a little love and tender care as it had an oil leak but all accessories were included.
Go have a look, it might still be there.
Cheers.
Neill
I won't be able to get there until Saturday, so hopeing it's still there, didn't seem to be on their web site. Otherwise I'll just have to see if I can find one on the net somewhere for a reasonable price.

Re: Kitchen Aid - 1 kg flour
Rossco,
the guy I bought mine from doesn't import them any more (I think he lost the distributorship really) so can't recommend him. He only dealt from a warehouse and I got mine from his home here in Adelaide.
I just did a Google search and came up with a 10l unit, looks good but a bit more expensive than mine but 3 speed and with a dough hook (I had to make my own as it was missing!.

Re: Kitchen Aid - 1 kg flour
+1 ..My other half recently had to have her KA mixer repaired because she overworked it making pasta.. so a good industrial unit would be great.. One question though, is this a single phase or three phase unit?Originally posted by heliman View PostWow Neill - that one of yours looks fantastic.
Can you please let me know the brand etc so I can chase it up here. May keep the KA as a general purpose mixer as it still seems to do quite well for lighter stuff like cakes etc (not that I make them though).
