I'm in Chch. Not great here. 'Only' 6.3 magnitude but far more damage in city due to being closer and shallower than the 7.1 in September 2010. I work on 4th floor of 20 storey building in CBD. Not nice but far better than it was for surrounding buildings. Many have fallen. This is right beside my work Desperation around collapsed PGG building | Stuff.co.nz
My house & family all ok
I've been watching it on TV and feel for all those effected.
I was shocked when they said it was an after shock from the September quake. I didn't realise CC were still getting after shocks and to have such a powerful devastating one 5 months after the September quake really surprised me.
Glad you and your family are ok Uk-excile.
I have never see a start of a year like this one for mother nature being really F##kin pissed off.
Flash floods kill 20 odd in bris, flood cost billions in Qld alone , Let alone the rest of Aus.

Fingers are crossed for you guys over there. it would be nice to have that missing person toll drop from 300 to bugger all.
I heard today on the radio that some woman did a crank call to an emergency number, saying they were in the Canterbury tv building. What a low act
Awesomeidea . Certainly a lot of buildings have fallened. Perhaps a chance to start new and build to a suitable standard to what seems to be the new norm.
