Got to love Aldi, we got ourselves one of their pods coffee machines the other day for $79 which is a bargain. It's not as good as a real espresso machine but it beats instant coffee so it sits somewhere in between.
Harris Scarf is another spot that has great specials for enamel cast iron cookware and roasting trays.
I'll pop into Aldi and have a look at those mini $6.99 pots and see if they are large enough for what I want.
I fired up the oven over the weekend and did some garlic prawns in my terracotta tapa pots but I was paranoid they might not survive the high heat. The oven heath was around the 260-280c, the pots were pre-soaked and survived but these aldi pots might be better provided they are large enough.

    Thanks for the heads up.

Yes, Aldi is a great store.....except if you live in WA! My in-laws live in QLD, so I have been to the cheap (i think its a German) food store in the past...and they have some good stuff. Now..all they need to do is get over this side and then it will be happy days! Maybe they are waiting for this backwards government to start sunday shopping first!!

No Mate.....it was only 9 yrs ago they allowed Bottle Shops to open on a sunday We cant have people shopping on a sunday (unless your in a 'toursit area' like Fremantle), it will take away from family time??? WTF!!!!!! They only just brought in 9pm shopping on weekdays this year, now I dont have to push past people to buy food!! Back to Aldis though, my in-laws are over here for xmas...might have to have a look online and get them to bring some WFO tools over for me "D

I got 8 of those mini cast iron pots this morning the only down side is they are oven safe to only 200c. I would have thought being cast iron they should be able to handle a lot more than that.

Hi Al, yeah 8 is a good number to get.
I have done a little research and found the enamel being glass could get heat shock and get damaged in very high heat ovens. Being Chinese made it's possible but I will still use them at higher temps if the recipe calls for it.

We picked up the larger 6 QT (5 Ltre) here in Minnesota. Last one on the shelf.

Thanks for the heads up Al.
