    Davids ,I can never question you advice on many matters and now that will include "hot Hoes". The replacement handle will be of course be hardwood.

      Yes, I imagine that a hoe and softwood would be a poor combination.

        That's exactly what I use Dave. Stomp on it and make the angle even flatter, reshape the leading edge so it is curved to fit the back of the oven and fit a longer handle.
