  • Final Render Coat

    Hey Guys,

Just wondering what is the best product to use and the final render coat on an exposed igloo style dome.

I was looking at this stuff to put over a sand cement render

    Dulux AcraTex Elastomeric Shieldcoats

Any thoughts or is there another off the shelf product that would do a better job?

    Bondcrete?

    Thanks,

    Matt

I think the 969 would work just fine. I didn't dig into the spec sheet, I assume it's an acrylic base.

      Matt,
I'm investigating this for mine as well and came across an Acryloc product called Armourflex.
However I've always found Dulux stuff to be good.......so is the 969 tintable so you can choose a colour?
      Cheers

        Re: Final Render Coat

        Hey Damo,

Yeah that stuff looks pretty good as well. It says it can be tinted to a certain range of colours. I have just been doing some online research but havent looked in the big green shed yet. I will see what they have on the shelf an go from there.

I guess at the end of the day if it doesnt hold up over time I can always box it in an put a doghouse over the dome.

        Cheers,

        Matt

          Re: Final Render Coat

Actually there is a Solver across the road from the big green shed near me I might go in there as well, only just thought of that as I read your post.

For now I figure I can render over the blanket, dry it out, fire it, see what it cracks (hopefully none) and then do this acrylic base last.......while wife decides on colour.

          Thanks
          Cheers

            Hi Damon

On my thread I made mention of a coat that goes over the render and had a sample of the picture. if you want your oven to look like a big round boulder. It seals the oven and looks like Granite I believe they have other finishes as well.

Check will include a link later on if you are interested page 29/287.

I'm watching the football with a glass of pepperjack shiraz.

I think the product is [when I enquired] around $147 is sprayed or troweled on.

That's what I will be using. It is impervious to water and is just like the rocks and features I have in my Japanese garden.
                Cheers Colin
