thanks guys you have made me feel a little less upset at myself. I thought I had done something wrong in the curing as I was so careful not to go too hot too quick.

Except,........ for those of us which are fishermen and/or hunters,........... who would not lie about things like that .

Russell is correct, no matter what happens physics applies heating and cooling cycles creates movement hence cracks.

For future reference for anyone else try not lining up mortar joints, remaining on bond won't stop cracks but may minimise them.

This is why I am using shiralite around dome to lock the dome in place. No guarantees at all but just a theory.

Wrap it up and enjoy the spoils.

hi guys I finished the brick work on my oven and thought I would do a first fire to start the process of having pizza for Christmas and have had a crack form in the entire side of my oven. I have read some good and bad things about cracks but thought I would get your opinion on mine as its my second fire up with a bit of kindling.

Just incase I have somewhere for the family to take refuge. Fresh pizza and nuclear safe. I actually all ways think too big when I do something it's a bad habit, my brother told me not too but when he left I added more reo. Hope it's not a bad thing....

    Nice slab Awild8
I agree with UtahBeehiver on steel-work, it could always double as a nuclear fall out shelter.
    Great start

There is enough steel in that slab to make it bomb proof. Not going anywhere. Look forward to seeing the rest of the build.

    Nice...
Pic tip, on the advanced reply page is a Manage Attachments button click to add a pic to the page, limit is 4.
You have to go through the process a whole 4 times for some reason, (seems the mods cant work out where the attach all 4 pics in one hit button is for some reason) all your pics will be on one page then.
