  • Water vapour barrier for suspended slab

    Hi all,

has anyone used a product similar to this

Liquid Nails VBS Vapour Barrier for sealing concrete slabs | Selleys Australia

I put down a plastic sheet before the ground slab was poured. Then laid the besser blocks, filled them with concrete and reo.

I didnt incorporate a vapour barrier between the besser block stand and the suspended slab.
Do you guys think a product like this will help in keeping water out of the oven or would a plastic sheet laid over the suspended slab below the hebel insulating floor be better or both?
My oven will be exposed to all the elements.

There are products you can buy and ad to the concrete but they arent very effective people are telling me.

    cheers
    Brendan

Re: Water vapour barrier for suspended slab

    G'day
I've had my stand flooded, a vapor barrier under the insulation would have come in pretty handy then.
A sheet of building plastic is all you need. Its simple, cheap, available and above all that's what its designed to do . The insulation layer will protect it.
Remember the hebel will still need to be sealed where ever it's exposed like the sides.

I paint the tops of the stand bricks after filling the cores, with Lanko 752 bondit which says works as a sealer. I also add Xypex to the mix, when casting my supporting slab, which also makes it waterproof.

        Hey David,

That was my second option to paint the stand, will do that as well as plastic sheet. Thanks David.
