  • California Homemade Food Act, AB 1616

This bill is awaiting the Governor's signature and is meant to make it reasonably easy and affordable to become a licensed food producer and allow some limited commercial food handling and production at home.

    What do you think?

    Chris,

Without reading it, does it have sanitary checks and proper food handling in the bill? I'm pretty sure moonbeam will sign it regardless.

It's my understanding that it requires a food handling course and certificate. In addition permits, of course, will be needed from the local governments. An example would be a city business lic.

There is nothing quite like food poisoning to make a day and the following night special..

In Utah I need a food handlers permit, 3 basin stainless sink, handwash sink, be able to wash down the whole place. I know of a lasy that was doing catering and she did not have the proper (comercial kichen like) equiptment and she quit rather than update to code.

        Do your homework.
