    Re: Wire Brush concern

    G'day
Sobering, same type of thing happened in Aust. A timely reminder. thanks. I have a natural bristle brush for low temp cleaning
My preference for high temp cleaning is to simply slap the hearth with the flat of the peel. All the ash that is raised it taken up the chimney. A simple mop of some rags wired to the end of a stick soaked in water with take care of most other things. As with most things keep it simple.

I gave my brush away. I scrape it with a hoe, then pound it with a metal peel to get rid of the remaining dust.

Wet things suck too much heat out for me, plus I don't need it to be THAT clean.

I agree, I use a blowpipe to clear away the ash. Just blow, don't suck.

I think ya all have figured out there are indeed many ways to skin a cat...
But you got to remember if you get try to pick an fight with an old man, he mighten want to fight.... In which case he will just kill you.
Perhaps the most important thing to take away from this is regardless of weather your a slapper , moper , brusher or a blower....
It definitely pays not to suck!

                Re: Wire Brush concern

Im still going to continue to use my wire brush but just paying attention to this. My fire brick seems to be fairly brittle and I dont want to slap the floor to much, the corners are already rounded off from just what use its gotten in 6 months. Blowing makes sense, guess I'll have to find a way to hang another tool!

                    Dave,

I think you need to copyright or trademark that one:

That is bizzare about the wire brush....but makes sense. I wouldn't have given it a second thought. I do use a brush and a blow-pipe,...will now think twice about the wire brush.

                      Thanks for the post.

Lmao, i loved his statement, we all should be careful of the wire bristle. I should stop using mine and start slapping and blowing.

Nearly happened to my wife. I was using old bits of building timber to get the fire started. Over here, they staple product labels to the end of the lumber.
guess what the missus found on the bottom of a loaf of bread.

Like everything with food, check and replace damaged food utensils every time you use the WFO, it just is not worth injuring someone.
