No, not if you cook it the proper way - hot oven, fire on the side, door open. Most folks use better quality wood for the fire on the side when cooking pies or any other live fire cooking - wood that does not pop or smoke, usually well seasoned hard wood. I did once bake some cinnamon rolls with the door on and hot coals still in the oven, while I was doing my curing fires. The door shut off oxygen and the remaining wood started smoking. The rolls were pretty bad/smoky, but it was the first thing I ever cooked so I wolfed them down.
