    Thanks for the help, Eric.
Eric - for grins I priced used Hobarts - damn, not cheap. Brickie may be on to something with the knock off - $600 seems like a deal.

      • What brand are the knock offs?
      • Where do you get one?
      • Do the attachments all fit the same?
      • If they break, are parts available?
      • What are the winning lotto numbers? (then I wont need to worry about the cost of a new mixer!!!!)

      Thanks, Eric.

Re: I need a new mixer suggestion

There are knocks offs current and knock offs old (eg 20 years old plus ..... second hand)

I can only speak of old.....picked up a couple old ones, over 20years old. They were complete or I could have missing parts machined up. They are bullet proof so basically new bearings, seals and food grade grease and they are fine. If ones wants to use attachments there are a number of PTO or output shaft types so sticking with a common one across multiple brands makes it easier to get 2nd hand.

Current Update: My wife surprised me on my birthday last May with a used Hobart HL-6 stand mixer that fits on my counter top.

This thing is awesome and so far has been flawless. Hit the "Like" button!

Way better than the KA it replaced. Use it about 3 times a week on average.
            Thanks, Eric

              Hi Eric,

The boy in the pantry? Are you fatten him up for Thangsgiving? ( A gruesome story ), but one that has been told before. Hansel and Greta.

Re: I need a new mixer suggestion

This is no ordinary pantry! it is way larger than the bedroom I grew up in.

The only reason that we call it a pantry is that is close to the kitchen and that we originally were going to use it as a pantry (makes sense!)

Including my nephew, I have three teenage boys (plus their friends) and that is why I needed the Hobart!!!!
                Thanks, Eric

With 3 teenage boys, who needs a mixer, call it training and they won't know the difference, especially if they want the pizzas or breads!

Ask Faith of Virginia, she has several type of mixers.

I am just surprised that a couple of years ago when I just got started making bread at home, that there wasn't more mention of using a more "commercial" style mixer for home use.

I thought that maybe it was just that my KA was a little older, but my repair man in SF told me that I was just over working the KA
