  • Bakery Bags?

Last year I bought some excellent bakery bags from King Arthur flour. They are lined with a wax or plastic of some sort and are paper on the outside. They breathed a little to keep the crusts from getting soggy while the bread still did not get stale too quickly. King Arthur is not selling them anymore. Do any of you bread bakers have a link to an online source for good bags. I did some searching but cannot find any "breathable" ones like these. I called King Arthur, but they just don't carry them anymore.

We cannot find anything really really suitable...when we sell at the market we simply use brown paper bags...I love to know of something myself!

I found a supplier for the type of bag I think you are looking for:

      McNairn Packaging Product Information

I'm sure they sell in quantities that are way too large but perhaps they (or some other supplier) could direct you to some place near you that buys them and you could get the local place to sell you some. Or ... just a thought ... maybe James could stock them in the FB store ...

        Drake,
we (TafeSA) deal and train people over here in Australia from an Adelaide based international company that has manufacturing plants all around the world making and printing all types of plastic and paper containers/bags from margarine tubs to McDonalds, Hungry Jacks, cement bags, shopping bags etc. They are currently into me for favours so will check with them for information and/or advice on suppliers for such bags. I am not at work tomorrow but will email them on thursday and get back to you asap.
Is there any way that you can get me a picture or later maybe, if they need a sample or part thereof to me through the post?

              HI Drake,
well I contacted the company executive again and he CC'd a request to his sales rep to contaact me and still no answer. Typical of large companies because if I make waves and literally demand a response, I only get them off side.
I will however keep chipping away.

I have still been looking for a source here including the old distributor, but no luck...

                  Drake,
I thought that I would do a Google search for paper breasd bags and found:

Fischer Paper Products / Food Service/Bread Bags

DADAO paper bags manufacturers, the leader of paper bags suppliers

Check them out. You wouldn't think that bthere are so many different types of paper bags available.
There seems to be a host of different bread bags for a lot of european breads. There might be something in here but I will keep trying our contacts here who make hundreds of different bags from Maccas to sweets to fertiliser and portland cement bags.

Here is a link on freezing, storing and 'reviving' bread

                  Bakers Delight : Bread Care
                  Will keep in touch.
