    Great looking food!
I haven't thought about spam. I love it grilled. It stands to reason though, that it would make a fine topping .

      Thanks Gulf,

Everyone thinks I am crazy, but it made sense to me! Ever thought of BBQing Spam (Brethren) another story some day!

"Brethren" huh, then I need not tell you how great balogna is on the smoker/grill also! That is one of my next projects for smoking in the WFO . If I were to do a search on this site, I probably would find someone who has done smoked balogna on a pie . And yes, I have done smoked/BBQed Spam. Delicious

          Gulf,

My family is from Hawaii, so SPAM rules on the islands and has to be one of the primary food groups!!!

            Russell,

I am looking forward to some some Hawaiian recipes for SPAM!

A few years ago, I thought that pineapple was a disgusting topping for pizza ................. That is,............ until I tried it

I tried SPAM once. I suppose it stands to reason that somewhere in the world a lot of people like it, otherwise they wouldn't make it anymore.

I often wonder how residents of the USA would react to Bung Fritz. (only in South Oz, other states don't have it.)

On the other hand, here in Oz a Hawaiian pizza is ham and pineapple, and no one thinks it strange.

Mud crabs are the local produce that I think should get the tick here but Bundaberg Rum seems to have front runningl

That is Vegemite by the way - That is a national icon.
                    Cheers ......... Steve

                      Re: Pizza - Sunday.

Aah, vegemite. It is like Southwark beer. If you were raised on it, you love it. Otherwise the usual reaction is "How on earth can you eat/drink this crap?"
Remind me to post my recipe for vegemite soup.

Now as for Bundaberg rum, in South Oz we call it Queensland diesel. Also known as "fightin' gear". The fuel of choice for pub brawlers everywhere.
Nothing like a square bottle of polar bear piss to get the adrenalin pumping.
In the interests of peace and harmony, I don't drink it anymore.

I admire your courage. However, I am willing to bet you won't like it.
I often ponder these things - given that most adults who taste it for the first time sorta spit it out and say "What the heck is that?" how did anyone ever eat it long enough to acquire a taste for it?

Sorta like olives - an un-brined olive is usually bitter. Who persevered long enough to find out that if you soak it in salt water long enough the bitterness goes away and its quite tasty?

Funnily enough the company that makes vegemite is American owned.

                            Eat it like this:
toasted white bread, lightly buttered, then a thin smear of vegemite on top.

Then give the rest of the jar to an Aussie neighbour who may or may not thank you.

BTW, what is Fugas and piccallili?

Maybe, maybe not. I've heard comparisons to beef bullion..which I do like.
