  • Last pizza of the night

Had a wonderful evening with neighborhood friends. During the clean up we decided to take the last doughball and throw together one last pizza.

Not as round as some we made, we had run out of sauce (party foul) but it ended up being some of the best pizza we made that night. Partly due to using the last of Dave's garlic dipping oil left over from the mushrooms.

Also, had some time to work on the oven and you can see another row of trim at the top of the oven. I'm really glad I added that.

    Cheers!!!!

Oh, I really like the added trim at the top. It finishes everything off perfectly, gives the oven extra proud presence. I like your style, Christo.

I like the flared entrance, it must make it easier to reach the interior spaces.

The lighting solution is excellent! Are these heat resistant fixtures or just oven bulbs in standard fixtures? Type of wiring/shielding?

Neil did a nice job with his lighting and like his solution better than mine.

Their is a lot of good information here.

My solution involved ceramic based halogen lamps with hi temp fiberglass insulated wiring running on GFI protected 120 VAC supply.

I love your oven! What are the recesses in the sides? Decorative or functional?

The arches on the sides were part of the original plan.

The enclosure is a pentagon, to fool the eye and make the oven look smaller. And it works well. Most of the pictures seem to make the oven look pretty small. The pentagon shape lent itself to some oppurtunites, like the arches.

Where the flared opening meets the dome - there is a reasonable space so I decided to put niches there. Started out they were going to be gas lights - but sanity took over and precluded me from putting gas lines near the oven. my wife loves candles so they will house candles with glass sconces - or punched metal ones later this year if I make them.

They were not that hard to do but took time - I second guessed myself during construction but now I really like them. I angled the bottom shelf so water and leaves would drain off naturally.

As part of the design (that even worked out!!) they are centered on the countertops.

                Thanks for the compliment!
