Good luck with everything, including the bricks. The oven project is the best thing you could be doing/planning at a time like this.

Keep going, we're thinking of you!

                        Re: CajunKnight needs prayers

Ok, all the test results are back and it appears that
Travis does in fact have brain cancer. It's an
aggressive form known as a Glioblastoma. Basically, it
spreads quickly and multiplies rapidly as we have seen
since it has now spread to the other side of his
brain. The pathologists report will tell us the grade
of the glioblastoma: 1,2,3,or 4. Of course grades 3 &
4 are the worst. We believe that we are at a grade 4
                        already.

At this point, all we know is that he has been given 3
months to 1 year to live. 3 months if we do nothing, a
year if we do the biopsy, surgery, radiation and
chemo. The biopsy is set for Thursday the 28th, then
the surgery and other stuff will follow within a week.

Once we get the pathologists report, we will most
likely head to MD Anderson in Houston because they
specialize in this type of cancer. Of course MD
Anderson won't touch him until we have the
pathologists report so again we wait. And wait. And
wait. And while we wait, this cancer spreads. And
spreads. And spreads. We do have a cancer policy with
AFLAC to help offset some of these costs...but until
there is a pathologists report...we grow poorer and
poorer. We will have the pathologists report sometime
next week, maybe, and then we wait for the check from
AFLAC. So we are back at square one: hurry up and
                        wait.

His body is growing weaker, his speech more slurred,
his balance is off and he's beginning to stumble and
fall. I have left my job completely because I have to
focus on him and frankly, he's not in a safe enough
position to be left alone any more. We are currently
staying with one of his brothers and his wife but that
will grow old quickly for all parties concerned. He
doesn't want to be a burden on me nor do I want to
burden his family. But we are all doing what needs to
                        be done.

Tears have become a way of life for us. As has fear. I
don't want to think of my life without him in it but I
have to face that fact as much as I don't want to.
He's terrified but won't admit it too often. All the
legal stuff has been done. There is only the matter of
taking care of his physical and spiritual need. This
situation brought my husband to his knees and opened
his eyes to the need to accept Christ. And for that
I'm truly thankful. If the time comes that I have to
kiss my husband for the last time, I know that he will
be welcomed into the Gates of Heaven where his mother
and father await him. I will be here waiting for my
turn to join them. We are scared, and shaken but not
broken. We not only need to lean on each other, we
need to lean on our Heavenly Father...and our earthly
friends. We will be staying at his brother Mark's
house until early Wednesday morning then we will make
the trek to Baton Rouge to begin pre-op then will
spend that night at his sister Jessie's house.
Thursday morning Travis and I will need to arrive at
Our Lady of the Lake at 5 a.m. the biopsy itself will
                        begin at 7.

We know that you are all praying for us and we
appreciate that. We are not adverse to meeting with
you to pray in person. "Whenever 2 or more of you are
gathered in My name"...remember that. All it takes is
2 or more of us to gather in His name. I could fill
the rest of this email with platitudes, and scripture
and conjecture and all kinds of other $10 words that
frankly are meaningless at this moment. So what I will
do is close out for today and ask that you continue to
                        remember us in prayer.

                        Yvonne & Travis

                          Re: CajunKnight needs prayers

I am so sorry for what you're going through. I know those are horribly inadequate words - words so often are inadequate in such terrible and frightening times - I wish I had something more. Of course I will pray - God is still great and He can handle any storm. No matter what happens, He will neither leave nor forsake you - He loves you both and He is there.

Tragic times often sharpen our focus - I'm so glad that he has come to know Christ. Hang onto Him - He'll see you through.

I wish I could do more. I can't come, but I will pray.

God bless you both and grant you the strength to get through this.

The words won't come to describe my feelings. I will continue to pray for you all.

Take care of yourself and Travis. Your strength shines through your letter- but be sure to allow people to help you. Take them up on their offers. God sends us help all the time- we just have to see it and take him up on it.

                              DearTravis, dear Yvonne,

We all have to die sooner or later, some way or other. Without death there is no life. Deep down we all know that.

But still, that is a diagnosis I would not wish on anyone.

More than ever my thoughts are with you now.
