I finished building my oven last night for travel writer Michael Jacobs at his home in Andalusia, Spain.

The idea for the beehive shape came from the drystone hermitages in Skellig Michael, Ireland.
I put 2" of Rockwool insulation around the side of the dome. It can sustain temperatures up to 670C (over 1200F). I also put Arlita round the blanket and doubled the thickness of the Rockwool layer at the top of the dome. Vermiculite and perlite was too difficult to find in Spain.
