I have already sealed the stand with the same stuff sold in this area to waterproof basements...Thoroseal Foundation Sealer. I will also put in a french drain and gravel to quickly move water out from behind the oven. Hope that is enough to keep things dry. Any other thoughts are welcome.

Just wanted to follow up to see how the Thoroseal Foundation Sealer worked? I've got a below-grade foundation (not a trench) that I'm planning to build up with cement blocks, but not to back fill the centre of the stand. As a result, it will be a large storage area. Not because I want that specifically but because I dont' want to fill it with costly blocks.
