Here are a few pictures of a retaining wall I done a few years ago. I have gotten a lot of complements on it. Very nice in the fall with the change of color.
Forms are set and I hope to pour the counter top this week. I can't wait to start the oven. Should I wait a period of time after the counter has been poured, before I pour the vermiculite base and start the oven?
I'm pretty sure you can pour both in the same day (most people on the forum have done this IIRC), just make sure that the vermiculite isn't going to leech any water from the concrete.
That's going to be a fantastic outdoor kitchen. I would wait 2 or 3 hours for the countertop to firm up before pouring the vermic. Since the vermiculite will be saturated with water and portland, I don't think you will have a problem with the vermic leaching water from the concrete.
I caught that too Matt.
I don't think I'm going to follow this build anymore. Not only am I getting totally jealous here but I have a feeling I'm going to start feeling inadequate with my skills too.
Thanks for all the kind words. The plan is to go with stone. We poured the top today. I will give it a couple of days and then pull the forms. This has been a really slow go. I have never done any masonry work before. I am just tiring to do it right.
