Nikki
The tiny dictator could be in magazine adds, perfection. Enjoy the sleep now, in 17 years you'll be sleepless again.
Neat door, by the way. Can you post some 360deg pictures and describe your build process?

She's growing quickly, beautiful, and slept from 8pm to 7am the last three nights! I'd forgotten how fabulous a full night's sleep feels.
The tiny dictator wants to be fed now, though. Sleeping through the night, yes. Allowing me to get anything done the rest of the time, still no.

Nice looking door Nikki - love the flames. But more importantly, how is our child Niamh doing? You must be laying tile between feedings.

It's not insulated. I decided to go the easy route for my first attempt, and remembered reading somewhere here on the forum about someone who made a door by using thinset to sandwich together a few layers of cement board. He said it worked very well, far better than he expected a non-insulated door to perform. Of course, I can't remember whose design and idea it is now, so I can't give credit where it's due.

Oh--I meant to mention that! Major inspiration obviously came from Frances and her spectacular mosaic work. I've never thought of attempting the art form until I saw her incredible oven, and now I'm contemplating a huge mural on the garden wall.

It's been hot hot hot around here, but this is what I did inside over the last week:
I can't wait to try some retained heat cooking! I've been meaning to make a door for months, but never got around to it until now. It's starting to cool off a bit, and I think I'll be finishing up the veneer work soon. Almost done!
