      Hi Dave

Thanks! We're really looking forward to wrapping up the brickwork and cooking some food instead.

Seems to me like you are moving pretty fast. I wish I was able to move that quick. Great work. The door looks pretty good.

Thanks DR-appreciate the encouraging thoughts. Probably will be on hold for a while now. Even with the plastic tent and heater the weather calling for maybe 6" of snow tomorrow and single digit temps later this week it will be too cold for working on the oven. Of course we'd rather be shoveling snow than mortaring bricks LOL [not]

Yep we had about six inches today. I was hoping to get the counter top formed up and poured before snow but oh well. Guess I'll have to wait for the spring now.

I think winter is here finally friend. Snow and bitter cold next door to you here in Nevada with cold through the weekend. Gives us all the winter to plan for knocking out ovens in the spring.

Warmer day today and working to get the brickwork done. Will get chain 10 in tomorrow and with most of the next week off coupled with decent weather we should get this dome plugged next weekend.

We added some temporary foam boards supported by 2 x 4's . Made working and getting bricks temporarily supported much easier.

The temporary plastic room and two heaters is working well. It seems like the oven building has become a challenge that needs to be completed-we're ready to start cooking and leave brick cutting behind! All in all it's been an enjoyable experience, just taking more time than originally anticipated.

Christmas Eve and getting to celebrate course 12 completed, which is a small triumph but pales in comparison to the gift of Christ's birth. We're fully blessed!

And like our brickwork which isn't perfect it's surely forgiven as we are not perfect but by grace are forgiven.

Peace and blessings, and best wishes for a Merry Christmas.

Re: Started 42" WFO in Carson Valley, NV

We plugged the dome today after opening up Christmas presents and eating. We oriented the two pieces horizontally which gave us 5-1/4" of plug depth, hence why the outside of the plug is above the mortar on the outside of the dome and doesn't show the 3 hours of grinding to get the bottom plug snugged in tight. We also finished grouting the countertop brick today.

Tomorrow we'll start the ceramic blanket insulation.

Congratulations on finishing the dome! That is a big milestone in this business .

That may be okay, but let the dome dry some before going much further.

Thank you-it does feel really good to be on the downhill side of the build. We'll definitely take it slow-stucco and a few weeks in the tent with the heat on to dry out, then a week without the tent to acclimate to winter, and then we'll consider curing fires.

Nice work. Take as much time as you can drying it out and using slow/low curing fires.

I'm impressed with your door. It looks like you made it without ANY welding. Is that the case? Just bought the 2 sheets at Lowes and tin-snipped with bolts?

Congratulations on closing up your dome!

Thanks! You're absolutely right-no welding on the door, just used the grinder to cut two sheets of Lowe's bought metal to size. We bolted the two halves together with stainless steel bolts and nuts through the insulation board, and then used stainless steel screws to fasten to the wood door.

BTW we used your build and pages often during our build and the tips and photos you shared were invaluable!! Your oven came out awesome!

Ceramic blanket and stucco complete! Not sure if the stucco color comes through-t we choose a light tan Lahabra to add to the surface bonding cement with fortifier.

Now we wait for the oven to dry and enjoy the fact that the heavy lifting is done!!!!
