  • Hello from Canberra, Australia!

    Hi all,

Long time lurker, never posted - but now that I have a block of land to call my own, it's time to start thinking, questioning and developing plans for a pizza oven!

I discovered this site about 5 years ago - got hooked - and have been waiting for this opportunity. In this time I have been using an el'cheapo WFO that has done the job - but time for a serious upgrade

To all Canberran's - it would be great to get in touch!

To all forum users - a massive thank you now - your builds, advice and documentation have been invaluable reading to get me underway. I have been taking notes of all the things I have liked and want to try and include in my build - so if you see something, and I dont credit you, thanks heaps now!!

Will start a thread of my build in the Australia section

    Cheers

    Greg,

Welcome to the forum, another southern hemi builder. If you have been lurking around for a while then you are familiar with the treasure archives in the Newbie Section, if not they show some of the more documented builds as well as links to brick angle sizing tools as well as other links.

Here is one of my fav. overall site build in your area. He is lucky to have such a yard to work with.

      Greg,

FYI - Forno Bravo does have an Australian distributor who has a container of Casa ovens on the water right now. Just a though since yo mentioned you are ready to upgrade.

You can email us through the website if you want an introduction.

Thanks for participating in the Forum.

      Regards,
      Tim

        Thanks Russell,

Yup - very familiar with Sharkey's build...it is an absolutely stunning and very inspirational build - only hope I can do half as well as that! That said, yours is pretty impressive too!

I've been on annual leave this last week - and spent 3 of 5 days reading build threads and taking notes - my wife (or WFO widow lol ) is not overly impressed :/

I don't expect to build this overnight like some - tools and materials are not so easy to gather in Canberra, and are pretty expensive if you do. Hoping to get most tools second hand (if there is anyone willing to part with or loan out a wet saw/cutting jig/IT etc - let me know) and a few trips to Sydney will be on the cards I imagine (3 hours drive).

Tim, thanks for the offer - the kits are very well thought out and initially I was very tempted to go down this path. That said, however, I love DIY projects and find them very therapeutic - so will be buying and source components as I go along. So many things change / new innovations / ideas come through this forum I would like to have the option of including them if the opportunity arises. Plus something unique would be super!

        Excited!

        Cheers

        Greg

          Hi Tim,

That introduction would be great - is your distributor going to stock the range of your products (refactory supplies, and in particular duravent flue components)? Hopefully at reasonable prices too
          Cheers
