I would say dome is better. there is a science to the convection it creates.

Can I use the firebrick panels from and old wood burning fireplace to cook my pizzas on.
It was barely used.

Dome vs square which is better?

A dome oven is considered the best choice for a pizza oven. A barrel oven also has other stress factors to consider so a dome is a "stronger" shape in my view.
