That is the build site above... where the blocks sit... I cleared out a bunch of junk halekoa trees and will be planting more fruit trees back there... I need to burn that rubbish pile and start my base but it’s been rainy every day and is wet and muddy... good time to plant

Test from iPhone8
EDIT: Here is a workaround for sending a pic from an iPhone to the forum in a pinch. I'm not sure if it will work with all platforms. (I use Outlook) I mailed this photo to myself. It will prompt for a size. I chose large. I opened it im my email, selected the photo and chose save image. That saved it back to my photos as the most recent pic.Now with a resized copy, I was able to add it to this post.1 PhotoLast edited by Gulf; 12-31-2020, 01:35 PM.

Happy New Year everyone!!! Aloha!!! Time for a beer??? I want to share some photos with you all... I have some ground zero pictures of my humble beginning... I use a iPhone 10x and when I searched the App Store for a photo size reducer I didn’t find any apps that looked worthy or safe... can anyone recommend a good app for downsizing my photos to share here??? Mahalo!!! \uuu/...
other then that just waiting on the rain to dry out to start my base... in the meantime trying to figure out the best bricks size for my oven floor.. I have 2 options 18x18x3... and 12x12x3... cutting circles out of square bricks not my forte’ but hope to be putting floor bricks on the barge soon... stoked... materials slowly falling into place... cheers to putting Covid 19 behind us and to a better 2021... ALOHA!!!!

I answered, I think. Anyway, there are people everywhere that cook directly on firebrick. I do it and have for decades.Originally posted by Boogie-D View PostThanks NCMan... Russell took down the link as conflicts with FB policy but it’s the muddox brand standard clay residential fire place brick... I can get those here... 4.95 each..
a lot and I mean a lot of people cook directly on fire brick... but honestly I am not so sure cooking directly on any fire brick is truly safe... no one responded to my post... you think safety would be the number one concern here... as bricks break down they release a tiny toxic particulate?? Don’t see much talk about it.. it concerns me.. the safety of my kids and grandkids.. yup.. they call me papa D.. it won’t stop me from building... I’ll probably go with a pizza stone... aloha!!!! \uuu/

Sounds good! Maybe, post Covid. To answer your query about cooking directly on the floor bricks:Originally posted by Boogie-D View PostWell there’s plenty of that here mark.. any time... we have plenty of space and maybe you can drag my mate from piha along he has never been here either..
Consider that whatever the bricks "give off" will be on any and every surface and in the air in the oven. Provided the bricks are free of heavy metals (such as lead) you should not have concerns with cooking on the bricks.
I would avoid bricks with added colours. What you want is the most natural product you can find.
