    Hi all. Mark from UK.

    This will be my first and hopefully only pizza oven build!

    I've been watching lots of YouTube videos and will base my build on the best of several of these. My approach is a vermiculite concrete dome formed around a gym ball. This will then be tiled with small hexagon tiles.

    I already have the U shaped brick walls built and will now move on to the concrete plinth.

    I've joined the forum to get advice and tips on your collective knowledge and will be reading and asking lots of questions.

    Mark, welcome to the forum. Lots of good information here on cast ovens and how to avoid some of the pitfalls of poor designs. Before you go any further read up on some of the cast threads here.

      Thanks. That's exactly why I'm here - to avoid mistakes which are costly to put right.

      I'm just looking at cast concrete options now so thanks for the advice. I'll search for threads on that.

          There are some really bad You Tube videos out there especially vcrete over a gym ball. It is not in you best interest to go down this road. Look at the cast build by Nick JC from the UK. He did a very good cast oven using a home brew dense refractory.
