  • YouTube has dangerous levels of bad information for pizza ovens

Crazy how many YouTube videos there are of terrible pizza oven design and instructions. Every nitwit with a channel seems to build one using all the bad recommendations from everyone else. Thank god I found this site. I can’t stand to watch another patio paver or Portland cement oven poisoning somebody’s kids or unsuspecting guests.

    Lots of great stuff here.

Welcome to the forum community Brinbane! Yes, we've tried to help a lot of folks recover from bad info/design about building & using a reliable and safe WFO. Are you getting ready to build or starting the construction? Either way, as you're finding, lots of help and well documented builds here.

I have started my research into the proper way of building a pizza oven. Probably won’t get to it this summer but have started taking notes. Tons of content here to review first. It will be phase 2 of a deck refresh I started. So happy to have found this forum, I knew there had to be a place like this.

I agree. This is the place to be when it comes to reliable and experienced advice on building/designing a brick oven. Hands down, the best. It's not just on the YT site you mention, but there are many parties out there making cheap knockoff ovens, just trying to make a buck, it's sickening. Welcome!!

Agree that there are bad YT videos out there but there are some valid ones out there as well. It is just hard to know what is what. FYI, cast homebrew portand base ovens are a good option and many successful builds on the blog in addition to refractory brick ovens as well.

Too true. 5 minute jobs with cast iron bath tubs seem to be all the rage at the moment.

Funny thing is that they all work and people are enjoying home made wood fired pizza's. It's great if you are able to spend thousands on a nice insulated brick oven, but there are many of us that can't afford that luxury so a perlite oven over a exercise ball or cob oven that costs less than $200, whilst not having the performance of a "proper" oven is still a great option for a lot of us.
