Hi have seen this oven at my local builders yard....as a chef I am really
interested in installing it in my courtyard...but have no building experience at all ! has anybody got exp with this type of oven...?
my questions are...to start with !!
    1. do I need to insulate the base, or can i simply build a couple of piers and stand this on top ?
    2. what do i need to add to the dome ? i don't want a fully enclosed roof type structure on it...is it possible just to render it or surround in brick ?
    3. what is the minimum recomended height for the flue/chimmney?
hope you can point me in the right direction....
thanks in advance for your help

    Welcome Carlos,
The answers to all your questions and ones you haven't thought of are here. Insulation is important on your entire dome including the bottom. Yes you can have the shape of the dome without an enclosure, that's what I'm building. As far as the flue height mine is only 2 feet, but I'm sure you'll get much more informed responses from others on that subject.

Is that the flue at the top of the dome? Might be a problem if it is.
Yes, you absolutely need to insulate. Some of these pre-made domes come with insulation, but it doesn't look like there's much room in this case.

hey ! thanks for the speedy replies... much appreciated

it seems i have a lot more research to do on this subject !

Xabia Jim - was interested to see your post... comments re quality of
these ovens in general - I have to say that my experience of many
Spanish made products is that they are made to a price point and do
not have the longevity when in use. btw took photo at a merchants in
          Coin, near Malaga

thanks again, will continue to read this site with interest...

            Re: spanish project- newbie

Carlos, if you're handy and have the time, build one using the plans provided here for free.

there are other ovens available here in Spain and you can look at some of my posts to see the one I put in....but I added insulation and would have done more if I'd found FB before hand.

The one you posted is a bit suspect for materials and chimney design...read the posts here....there is a lot of good info.
