  • Oven Floor Material

Anyone have thoughts on the materials used for the oven floor? Does this have to be brick? Can it be granite? I have seen some posts about soapstone. Any thoughts on pros and cons of all? I was thinking it might be good to have a one piece floor rather than all the seams of bricks. But I don't know the heat threshold of granite or its insulating properties. Thanks.

    Re: Oven Floor Material

I found a few posts on this topic that indicates it might not be such a good idea...cracking and popping. So I don't think I will be using it. Thanks.

You can use granite on your entry outside the oven, but a granite surface is supposed to deteriorate under higher heat ranges.

it was suggested to me to put splits on top of the full fire brick. they can then be replaced as needed. any thoughts?
