      Q For David S

      I'm looking at Lburou build

      http://www.fornobravo.com/forum/memb...al-breaks.html

Is this the crossdraft you mentioned? Should I leave a gap between the oven's opening and the chimney's arch? I had no idea of this.. thought to just do it all in one piece..

The gap is for a thermal break, its for retaining more heat in the oven, with your build I wouldnt bother.

Whats going to hold the oven roof up?

Do you think the distance to the chimney will be too long? The fire will be in the back..
My oven looks like a coffin..

We looked for a suckling pig for our last Christmas day lunch, the smallest they are allowed to kill and sell is around the 60kgs mark.

We went to all the really nice ethnic markets too in the hope, but you just cant get a small one.

I mean stick them together with the refractory concrete. I reckon it should hold

You can apply vcrete over CF, I used chicken wire.

Gonzo, I used insulating brick under a fire brick floor in a stacked, no mortar, moveable pizza oven for 2 years until I built a Pompeii oven. I had attended a workshop by David S Cargo, who has posted on this forum. He developed plans for stacked, square gravity supported pizza ovens using insulating brick under hearth . We fired up over 900, however it cooled quickly without insulation. I would leave the bricks intact.

Do you have a photo of that? I already used refractory concrete to stick the dome together. Not sure how big to do the chimney now
