I built a concrete topped bar last year. I had Enspartic epoxy installed by someone. It was ground down to 50 grit. I am thinking I did not get it clean enough - I did not power wash it. About 6-8 months later, it started having spots the size of a quarter or half dollar where the epoxy was lifting.
I have now stripped it back to bare concrete at 50 grit. I don"t know if I want to chance epoxy again - although I liked it. So did LOML. I also think the epoxy was not thick enough.
I am wondering if I should densify with sodium silicate and top with beeswax. Since I am limited on time with a wedding coming up, could I just power wash, and top with beeswax-mineral oil(I have lowered the melting point of the wax with the oil for wood turning) and grind it some more in the spring and do the silicate-wax thing then?
I do my dough prep right on the bar so it MUST be food safe. Thanks.
