  • Re: Neighbor is complaining about soot damage

    Hi Pete,
Try these - SA EPA documents aimed at wood heaters, but they've got some useful tips. In particular, they don't like rain caps. They recommend a different bit of gear for keeping the water out. The recommendations on heights/siting the flue etc would go along way toward defending any complaints you might get. Invite the neighbour over for a bite of pizza while browsing these documents and she'll be apples mate.

I've read this thread and .. you've got a nutbar for a neighbour!!!...plain and simple . We have watched in horror as friends in our rural part of Canada have struggled with crazyneighbours who ..fire guns off their porch .. but only when you are walking by .. put roofing nails in your laneway .. pour substances down your well ... and worse.. I propose you get those noise reducing headphones , put up a fence and carry on .. sorry to say this, but nothing you can say or do will ever '' fix it'' with someone who just plain crazy.
        my sympathy

I dunno, maybe. We want to try a fence, it's just kinda expensive. We want a fence anyway. She's so miserable, we just don't want to see her at all at this point. Most of the neighborhood is fenced, it's odd that this one property line never was, so it wouldn't be completely unusual to do.
How did you go? is she still insane did you build the fence, video her, call the police or the fire department? I think I would take video of her partner smoking was well that way she can't claim the nuisance factor. Also might be worth diarizing all this.
Hope things worked out and you have been able to move on to the multiple days cooking I have been reading about on other threads.
            Cheers,
            Rosemary
