  • Smoky Wood Remedies

So I bought 1/2 cord of wood a month ago. The seller represented it to be dry hardwood, but reality shows it to be wet softwood - with bonus pitch.

To preserve neighbor relations, I'm planning to cut my loss and give this crap away. Before I do, are there any remedies to reduce the smoke I might try?

I've been loading a dozen pieces of wood in the oven after each firing once it cools down to 250 degrees, to help them dry for the next firing. Is this moisture going to be hard on the oven? It has made a small difference with the smoke factor, but I'd much rather use the residual heat to cook food, not wood!

    Any other suggestions?

With pitch.....it sounds like pine....not good...
    first thing you do is:
    1. Pick out the biggest piece you can comfortably handle with one hand.
    2. Find the guy who sold it to you.
    3. Return the aforementioned stick of crap to his forehead at a rapid speed.
    4. Find a reputable wood seller.....

as for the other questions....I haven't a clue....

I like the advice that you haave been given I would like to add though that it might be a good idea to do a little research the trees grown in your area. It want take you long to learn the difference between hardwood and softwood, seasoned and green.
