Anyone burning with tamarack wood ? Its a little cheaper by $50.00 a cord than birch. A split cord of dried birch is $400.00 ( no delivery ).

It's an evergreen wood. I've cut it for heating and it's a pretty clean wood. I personally wouldn't use it for pizza but for baking, no prob.Check out my pictures here:

The tamarack we have here is pretty dense. Great for heating, but I've found it too smoky for the oven. As Les says, for baking, when the fire is removed, it is ok, but not best for live fire cooking like pizza. It tends to be more expensive here also because it is hotter and longer lasting for heating.Comment
