  • Cracks in dome while curing

I am on my fifth day of curing and I have noticed some cracks in my dome. How concerned should I be? Also I have had my dome stored in my wood shop for about 5 years so there has been no exposure to moisture.

There is always some moisture stored in the dome even if it has been sitting fore some time. Actually if you don't use the oven for a long time it can pick up moisture from the air and need to be recured. As for the cracks most seem to have some. Did you put the insulation on before the curring fire's? That can help reduce the likelihood of cracks.
