Chimney to hood vent

I’ve taken over a restaurant and am installing a wood fired pizza oven.
my question is can I run a chimney to my already installed type 1 hood and just cut a hole in the metal at the front of the hood?

That is something you need to discuss with your local building inspector/department. You are going to need a permit anyway since it is a commercial enterprise,
