can the vent landing & outer arch be normal brick

I have quite a few normal brick that has been laying around for 40 years and could use that for my vent landing, but I have seen mention of this non dome structure getting "hot". Could I, in good conscience, use regular brick, or must some or all of it be firebrick. Any responses are appreciated. I start on that part tomorrow.

As the landing and outer arch don't get so hot, normal bricks are fine.

Leave at least an 1/8 inch air break between the fire brick and the clay brick and you'll be in good shape!
