The right side doesn't go all the way to the bottom, however there is a crack on the left side and one down the center of the back that go all the way down.

I just looked at the close up of the crack in a earlier post, I enlarged the pic and it does'nt look like the crack is at the bottom block....Is that correct?

If you put some #2's down, I might try to get some limestone screenings, and keep putting that in and around where the erosion is,was..to help lock in the larger rock..it will help to tighten it up. try to work it in..You get it at a quarry or the local material supply yard...If they don't have limestone then get rock dust, grit, fines, or what ever they use in your area...but not sand. Sand will wash out...Hard to tell from here, but, you might try to work it in with your garden hose, but be prudent, just enough water to get it to flow in, a little at a time..might take a few times.

Use regular brick to house the dome then fill with vermiculite? That is doable. Add a course of brick by the entrance to strengthen it?
I am going to hold off a season before facing it to see if the foundation to the fireplace settles to a comfortable position. Not ideal, but its what I'm stuck with. I put #2 like stone (baseball size) to prevent any erosion. Not proud of the work, but gotta face it.

If it was me, I'd make a house around the dome and cover it with the same stone as the fireplace....more room for insulation and less chance for weather to get to the dome...Matching chiminey caps......nice! Maybe make the chiminey higher and add a butress next to the arch walls...You may be getting hot if there's a fire in the fireplace when your using the oven, hard to tell from the pic's. If I'm not mistaken, are'nt you the one who had some structural problems with your base? How did that work out?

    Finishing firebrick chimney?

Firebrick isn't the most weather resistant brick out there, so should I finish the outside in stucco like the dome (or stone that will match the eventual facing of the fireplace)? I plan on fabricating a cap to the chimney out of stainless to match the fireplace.

Any critiques or comments on anything else about my oven is appreciated. This is my first one.

    Thanks
    Chris
