    Re: bricks

    Leeth,

If you mean the arch and wall in front of the vent, depends on what you're doing. The wall brick that will be heated directly should be fire brick; the facade brick that won't be exposed to high heat or flame can be just about anything you like.

        Re: bricks

Depending on where you are, you can get red(ish) fire brick. Mine came from Progressive Brick in New Jersey.

Making your dome from common brick is not a good idea. The bricks tend to crack and chip. You don't want brick chips in your pizza. Some people have made the entry from red brick, and that's the most visible part. The dome? Use fire brick if you can get it.

              Re: bricks

I agree that the tunnel entry should probably be firebrick. I think you could use a different brick on the outside of your arch as it does not get that hot there and after all, you are still using a clay brick that will stand some heat.

You could use stone as an option.
