  • my fire door

The oven is 95 percent done and I'm playing with some door ideas.
Here is a simple 'fire' door I made out of thin aluminum. I wanted
to keep heat in, but still allow adequate breathing. It also helps direct the smoke into the flue.

The slat on the bottom is tall and wide enough to slide a pizza
in. When the fire is going, you can actually see the fire breath in
    from the bottom.

I have a tapered entry and the door just leans against the entry way.

I'm also working on a 'insulated' door that is a double wall steel door stuffed with insulation, insulated handles and a thermometer. This will be my overnight heat retaining door.

Thanks again for everyone advice. I have learned a great deal from these
    forums.

    Re: my fire door

    MV,

    This is an interesting door.

Are you happy with the way it performs?

What benefits do you get from this door? Is it allowing the oven to maintain higher heat?

    Thanks,

    JED
