This oven is built based on the free plans from Forno Bravo. (some modifications) It is situated on an island outside city of Helsinki. Construction started in May 2009 and the last finishing touches were put on in early July 2009.
The oven cost ca. 1000 US$ in materials and at least 5 gallons of sweat.
Most of the building materials were odd bits and pieces picked up from friends and neighbours who had building materials left over.
Base of the oven is from concrete blocks, the black frame is galvanized steel.
The oven is built from firebricks available locally. The exterior is fashioned like an old Finnish country house with the traditional red earth colour and black tarboard roofing.
Granite slab for preparing pizzas is fixed to the side of the oven, it sits in stainless steel frame.
Over 100 pizzas have been baked so far, the oven is just great!
