Sourcing FB Blanket in Canberra

Hi, I'm new at this. Have built a Pompei Oven and have enjoyed cooking in it for a couple of months. I didn't insulate the dome as I was only interested in cooking Pizzas to start with, but would now like to insulate and render the dome. The problem I have is that so called insulation "specialists" have never heard of FB Blanket. Does anyone know of a good supplier of this material in SE Australia (preferably Canberra), or an alternative product that works well?

Our blanket roll size is 25mm thick x 600mm wide x 7.2m long, $100.

I bought rock wool from an industrial insulation place; it has a 50mm thickness, operating temp of 650c, and a very nice price. From the specifications, it should do a very good job but I haven't used it yet so can't say for sure.

BTW, Johnny's price above is very good for the blanket - I probably would've gone with that if he was local.

Rockwool compresses way too thin.

You can purchase ceramic fibre blanket from Total Refractory Management at Slacks Ck.

Wow, that's the next suburb from me. I'm pretty confident about the rockwool I've got though - it really doesn't feel very compressible. Seems worth trying.

I used rockwool but not for an igloo style exterior. The "board" product I used doesn't wrap easly and if I were going to using this in an igloo I would have needed to use some sort of wire to hold the rockwool tight to the oven. Because I used a containment building I was able to use the surrounding structure to hold the material in place.

When I was younger rockwool came in batting with the same consistency as fiberglass bats have. I think I've seen other forms of rockwool, blankets and high density rigid board. Ideally the blanket material could be found. If you can find it, it should make wrapping the oven much easier and the coverage more consistent.

Yes, it's a dense 50mm blanket that I have. It's the "Tombo" stuff from Indonesia.
