Calcium Silicate Bricks for insulation

Hi All,

Im after some advice regarding some second hand bricks im thinking of using as my under-floor insulation.

These are the Calcium Silicate bricks manufactured at Kurnell Sydney over many years, but now no longer manufactured.
THEY WERE MARKETED UNDER THE TRADING NAME - "CALSIL"
They are a standard off white colour.
They are autoclaved sand and cement bricks which are lighter weight yet structurally sound.

These are the only specs I have on them.

I've attached a photo of them also.

Does anyone know if they would be ok to be used for the purpose I have in mind?

They will be fine for insulation purposes.

I though Calsil bricks were house bricks and autoclaved sand and lime?
I laid some similar back in the 70's.

My insulating firebricks actually float in water (they are full of air to insulate)....Do those bricks float?

I havent got my hands on them yet. I'm hoping to pick them up next week so I'll let you know then. I suppose if they are no good as insulators I can always use them as normal bricks somewhere in my stand or bbq bench I'm planning on building.

Ok, I picked up the bricks this morning and found that they weigh just as much as a normal brick .

Does this mean they arent true insulation bricks?

They were all the rage back in the 70's, once laid they absorb the pollutants from the air and go yellow.
