Re: Required density of fiberboard insulation
Sorry to bring this thread back to life, but i dont think this question was answered. What would be the minimum density required for the insulation boards. Would 15 LB density be enough to support the ovens? Thanks.

Give it up Dave, the infra-red thermometer is set to C.Originally posted by david s View Posti think you might have been reading the F scale rather than C. If your oven was at 800C the bricks would be glowing orange.
Who said the bricks werent glowing?

you could smell it getting hot and melting the fibreglass rope that I used to have around the front entry, surprisingly it didnt melt the silastic that was holding it on, just crisped it.

Re: Required density of fiberboard insulation
I really love the idea of lights as well but I don't know if I am smart enough to put anything in without killing myself. Here are two different ideas for lights that I have seen and I like them both. The first one is from Christo and the second one is from bigred. I hope this helps.

Re: Required density of fiberboard insulation
Yes, this is the idea - but darn if I can remember whose thread it's in. It was at least 18 months ago (if I remember) when I saw it. I'll try to search some for it and hopefully come up with something. Can you post a link? This is a great idea! I haven't have even thought about this. I wonder if a permanent mounted light fashioned from flexible conduit or something similar would work. Something that could be moved out of the way when not in needed, maybe.

I haven't seen that on anyone's build. I'll have to do a search.
